SpeedyPainter 3.0 – brush library

This is an anticipation of the new feature that will be soon available in SpeedyPainter 3.0.

In this version the user can choose among different brushes available inside a brush library.

In this video we can see some different brushes in action:

The library contains some simple default brushes, like the ones used in the video.

The user can add his own custom brushes, by simply moving them into the brush folder (data/brushes) and restarting the application.

When saving a drawing process, if the user used a custom brush which is not present in the default library, the brush will be automatically saved inside the drawing process file. This way the drawing process can be replicated also on installations of SpeedyPainter which don’t contain that particular brush.

Hope you will appreciate this new feature 🙂

Speedy Painter v3.0 will be available soon for download at:
http://speedypainter.altervista.org/

The following video shows the default brushes available in the library:

New feature: Crop tool

This is a quick demonstration of the crop tool in action.

The crop tool is available since SpeedyPainter v2.7.0.

As you can see from the video, the tool is consistent with other canvas operations like canvas rotation, zoom or panning.
You can use the tool also to expand the current canvas size: useful when you realize that your whole drawing will go outside the current canvas area (a common mistake 😀 ).

Feel free to express your usage experience and suggestions.

Thank you! 🙂

Perspective grid tool: additions in version 2.7.3

This is an extension I added in version 2.7.3: the possibility to add custom perspective lines when in perspective mode.
In this version lines are not editable once added, but they can be deleted using the “clear lines” button on the control bar.

Perspective grid overlay in SpeedyPainter v2.7.2

Video demonstration of the new “perspective tool” added in SpeedyPainter v2.7.2.

This tool adds a perspective grid overlay over your image. The perspective grid is replicated also on the reference view, so you can easily find the same perspective of the original reference you are trying to draw.
As you can see in the video, you can define one, two, or three points perspective.

To draw straight lines as in the last part of the video, simply hold the SHIFT button while adding endpoints. A straight line will be added between the last point previously drawn and the new point added.

SpeedyPainter is a FREE lightweight drawing software for windows.

New Release anticipations: Perspective grid overlay!

This is an anticipation of what you will find in the new release of SpeedyPainter: a perspective tool that lets you add a perspective grid overlay over your image. The perspective grid is replicated also on the reference view, so you can easily find the same perspective of the original reference you are trying to draw.

You can define one, two, or three points perspective, as you can see in the following screenshot, which shows the tool in action:
